Alpiste is a premier distributor of wines, spirits, gourmet foods, and fine glassware based in Costa Rica, with over 30 years of experience.

Its story began in 1970, when Don Alessandro Poma Murialdo, of Italian heritage, sought to share his passion for wine and gastronomy with Costa Rica. Starting with small imports sold from his home to friends and acquaintances, he planted the seeds of what would become a thriving business.

In 1990, his son Pietro Poma Murialdo took the reins as Commercial Manager and expanded the company’s portfolio of brands. Today, Alpiste is a successful enterprise whose roots are nourished in Costa Rica, yet inspired by its Italian origins.

Driven by a deep belief in enogastronomy—the art of pairing food and wine—Alpiste continues to bring the world to your table, just as its iconic slogan promises: “From the world to your table.”

In 2018, Alpiste set out to optimize its Accounts Payable process by implementing a solution that would:

  • Automatically receive electronic invoices from suppliers
  • Validate electronic invoices with Costa Rica’s Ministry of Finance (Hacienda)
  • Automate the coding and approval workflow for electronic invoices
  • Integrate seamlessly with its ERP system, Softland
